Tony Holt
Tony qualified as a professional Architectural Technologist in 2005. This was acheived whilst working for one of the largest architect's practice in the UK, where he spent 7 years in total working on projects in value of up to £20m.
After a small period of time at a smaller practice, Tony set up his own design practice in 2007. Never content with designing alone, he has pushed in all directions to extend the companies services into project management. Tony's passion is in creating and improving homes for private individuals. His project experience in this sector is extensive and provides a platform on which to deliver projects of all sizes.
What do you like most about your work? "I like the challenge of taking an idea and a vision, and then delivering the finished article. I have never really been content with just designing, and I always want to see it through to the finish. When it's someone's home it becomes even more rewarding and its a fantastic motivator. It's actually a privilege to be asked to be involved in such a massive life changing event."
What would you like to change about your work? "I would like eveyone that looks at a building to know its untold story. When the a building is complete, a house becomes a home and the story of how its been designed is often lost and forgotten. When we design there are so many factors that influence the finished article, and the story of how the design has evolved is where the true beauty of a home lies. Its funny that the emphasis shifts to the home, when its the site that has shaped and sculptured everything about it. You can create a beautiful looking building, but this is no substitute for good design which alone can create a wonderful place to live."
What would you like to achieve? "Many people would love to build their own home, but only a handful actually do it. I would like to share the journey of people who thought the challenge was to big, and help them achieve their dream. I also feel passionate about finding alternative ways of delivering building work. We all know there are so many failures when it comes to building in this country. It doesn't have to be that way, and it can be an enjoyable experience."
